The Wisdom of Scattering Your Seeds*

There is a divine principle that says, “In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).

This scripture verse teaches the wisdom of diversification, not just in farming, but in every area of life. Scattering your seeds means not putting all your hope, energy, or resources in one place. It is both a spiritual and practical principle for sustainability.

Some time ago, a certain man’s shop was burnt in a market fire just as it happened recently at Alaba. Everything he had laboured for went up in flames. Yet, he was not entirely broken, because he had other small businesses that kept him standing until he rebuilt again. If he had depended solely on that one shop, his story might have ended differently.

Life can be unpredictable; markets crash, policies change, and circumstances shift. But when your seeds are scattered , in business, you create safety nets that sustain you in hard times.

During my recent visit to Ala Igbo, I noticed a remarkable rise in infrastructural development, a clear sign that the Southeast is opening up for more investment opportunities. It reminded me that while Lagos remains a commercial hub, wisdom demands that one should not invest 100 percent in a single location. A branch once underrated might one day become the support that keeps the main business alive.

Spiritually, scattering your seeds is an act of faith. It shows trust that God can bless in multiple directions. In business, it reflects prudence ; spreading risk while multiplying chances of success.

Truly, the hand that scatters often ends up gathering more. Let us think deep and learn the principle of scartering seeds.

We improve by learning.
